Basic Candle Magic

1. Choose your focus. Decide what the intention of your spell will be, and be as clear as possible about the outcome of your desire.

2. Choose your candle. Choose the candle with color, & shape that is related to your goal. For instance many people associate a green candle with money, but some prefer orange or brown. There’s no heard and fast rules for this. Listen to your intuition.

3. Cleanse the candle by passing it through sage smoke or cleansing incense, or wiping it down with a touch of ammonia to remove negative energy.

4. Carve the candle with words or symbols that correspond to your intention. This is also a good time to trim the wick if it’s too long. The carving can be done with a simple pen for ease.

5. Anoint they candle with an appropriate oil. We sell many corresponding oils for your intention. In a pinch… olive oil from your kitchen is fine.

6. Charge the candle: hold the candle while visualizing your outcome and picture your own divine energy permeating the candle. Many people picture this as colored light. Some people just ‘feel’ their energy going into the candle. The charging step adds power to your magic.

7. Burn the candle: Always burn carefully in a candle holder or sage container. If you need to extinguish the candle for any reason, do it with a spoon or candle snuffer, don’t blow the candle out. A statement we like to use as we extinguish the candle is : “although I extinguish this candle in the earthly plane, it continues to burn on the astral plane, working my will.
